With us you can choose any individual unit from the CMI accredited units as a Level 4 Award or any combination of units to achieve your Certificate or Diploma qualification providing it meets with the rules of combination for the credit value required. If you are looking to study the Certificate or the full Diploma from the start, your first unit will automatically be registered as an Award. Upon completion of the first unit you will receive a certificate for the Level 3 Award in First Line Management.
After you have purchased this qualification, you will automatically become a studying member, and upon completion will be eligible to become an Associate member of the CMI with all of the resources you need through the CMI Management Direct Portal.
How do I buy the combination of units I wish to study?
It is easy! Simply buy either the Award, Certificate or the Diploma. Add to basket and check out.
We will discuss with you your combination of units after you have purchased. You will select these on the registration form as part of the registration process.
You will get the opportunity to discuss these with your tutor who will advise you on the best combination going forward. You may already know which ones you wish to study, however we allocate the units as you progress through the course giving you the flexibility of being able to change your options. After all you may change job or get a promotion that requires a different set of skills to be fine-tuned resulting in a different combination of units to be studied.
Diploma – Learners need to complete all Group A units and any combination of units to a minimum of 13 credits from Group B. Learners need to complete a total of 39 credits to achieve this qualification.

Assessment is normally via practical work-based assignments provided by your Approved Centre. This ensures you minimise time away from work and that you undertake work study which is relevant to your own organisation’s context.
Course Entry Requirements
- Course Entry Requirements These qualifications can be offered to Learners from age 19. As a Learner you will be ideally to be working within an organisation as a junior manager or a similar role where you can demonstrate skills and apply knowledge. Alternatively, you could draw on previous experience within an organisation or use an organisation you are familiar with.
On successful completion of a Level 4 qualification in Management and Leadership, a number of progression opportunities become available:
- Enhance your professional status by upgrading your CMI membership
- Progress to other qualifications at the same level (e.g. from Level 4 Award to Level 4 Certificate etc.)
- Progress to other qualifications at the next level (e.g. from Level 4 Certificate to Level 5 or 6 Certificate)
- Apply to become a Chartered Manager
